Steps to Use the Excel to Tally XML Converter App
- Download the Template:
- Click on the “Download Template” button to download the Excel template (
import_template.xlsx
). - Open the downloaded template and fill in the required details. Ensure that the columns ‘Date’, ‘Account’, ‘Debit’, ‘Credit’, ‘Bank Name’, ‘Narration’, and ‘Voucher Number’ are filled as per your transaction records.
- Click on the “Download Template” button to download the Excel template (
- Prepare Your Excel File:
- Ensure that each row has either a ‘Debit’ amount or a ‘Credit’ amount, but not both. If both are present, an error will be raised.
- The ‘Date’ column should be in the format
dd-mm-yyyy
. If the date is not in this format, an error will be raised. - Save your filled template file.
- Upload Your Excel File:
- Click on the “Upload an Excel file” button and select the prepared Excel file from your computer.
- The app will display a preview of your data after the upload.
- Validate the Data:
- The app will automatically validate the uploaded data. If there are any errors (e.g., invalid date formats, both ‘Debit’ and ‘Credit’ values present in the same row), they will be displayed. Correct these errors in your Excel file and re-upload.
- Generate and Download XML:
- If the data is valid, click on the “Process and Generate XML” button.
- A “Download XML” button will appear. Click on it to download the generated XML file (
bank_statement.xml
).
